A Frugal and Natural Home Spa Experience

A Frugal and Natural Home Spa Experience
This blogLife after Loss with Lisais not just about the hard, difficult things, but about my whole life. We've had a lot of heavy posts lately, so I thought I would lighten things up.

I am a firm believer in removing toxins from my body products, cleaning products and environment as much as possible and also being frugal with my money. I am an avid DIY-er and am constantly on the prowl for hacks and recipes for all things skin care and cleaning related. I hadn't done much of this prior to Jon's passing, but I found a need to be very careful with my finances in my new stage of life. What started as a need to trim expenses became a love of creating useful things that support our wellness. This post isn’t so much a DIY as it is a hack.

I like having smooth skin just as much as the next girl, but having extremely sensitive skin makes that challenging. What works for many people can irritate my skin or give me a rash. Most products that claim to be for “sensitive skin” are too harsh for me, mainly because they still contain man made chemicals. So, I’ve had to get creative and find items and products that are not only gentle on my skin, but clean and still effective.

This hack is genius, and I wish I could take credit for it. I have known that avocado is great for your skin, but it can get pricey. A friend shared her frugal way to get use every last bit of an avocado and still enjoy the skin nourishing benefits. If you enjoy eating avocado, or you know someone who does, this hack is for you. Your skin will LOVE it!

After scooping the flesh out of an avocado, smear the rest of what’s left on the peel directly on your face! I usually leave it on for 20ish minutes before washing it off. It will dry a bit, so you may need a washcloth to help you get it all off. I have been known to have a stray smear of dried avocado on my face after not washing carefully enough!

Be prepared for the smoothest, baby-soft skin ever! I mean, seriously….the SMOOTHEST skin! Follow up with your favorite skin care and moisturizer. I’ll link what I use below.

If you can't use your avocado peel right away, just pop it in the freezer and pull it out when you're ready.

You're welcome.
