Where Are Toxins Hiding?
Toxins are commonly found in:
  • Personal Care & Beauty Products (makeup, lotion, shampoo) - remember, your skin is your largest organ. Whatever you put on your skin, absorbs into your bloodstream.
  • Cleaning Supplies (air fresheners, laundry detergent, disinfectants, glass cleaner) - we inhale the chemicals and touch these surfaces that have been cleaned with these products.
  • Food & Food Packaging (pesticides, BPA in plastics) - these absorb into our foods whether we like it or not.
  • Home Goods (candles, furniture, children’s pajamas with flame retardants) - we’re breathing these chemicals in on a daily basis.
This lists may feel overwhelming, but the good news is that you don’t have to make all the changes at once. Instead of stressing over everything, start small—choose one thing to ditch and switch. For me, the first step was replacing candles and air fresheners with high-quality essential oils, a diffuser, and glass spray bottles. It was a simple change that made a big difference. If you’re not sure where to start, here’s my favorite starter kit

There are infinite ways you can diffuse the essential oils in this kit to create scents you love, and you don’t have to sacrifice a good smelling home when you get rid of toxins. Here are a few diffuser blends you can use with this kit.

  • 3 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Lemon, 2 drops Orange
  • 2 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Thieves
  • 2 drops Thieves, 4 drops Orange
  • 2 drops Lavender, 2 drops Orange
  • 2 drops Frankincense, 1 drop Peppermint, 3 drops Orange
  • 2 drops Peace & Calming, 3 drops Orange
  • 3 drops Valor, 4 drops Citrus Fresh, 2 drops Peppermint
You can also use any of these essential oils or combinations to make room sprays with an 8 oz. glass bottle (found here). Just put 10-20 drops of desired combination of essential oils into the spray bottle and fill with water. Shake well each time you use it and spray liberally.

Take this journey one step at a time. Use up the current products you have, and as you run out, swap them out for plant based, safe alternatives. Check out Part 1 for some of my favorites!
In part 4, we'll be talking about how to start reducing the toxins in your home
