5. Prioritize Sleep
We all know sleep is important, but many of us don’t get enough. Sleep deprivation is linked to heart disease, depression, anxiety, hormone imbalance, brain fog, and so many more health issues. Women should be getting 8-10 hours per night. But how do we get enough sleep?
Here are a few tips that have helped me get better sleep:
1. Keep a consistent bedtime every night. It’s tempting to stay up late on the weekends, but try not to. You will feel so much better when you’re going to bed at the same time each night, and with consistency, your body will have an easier time getting into a rhythm.
2. Turn screens off at least 1 hour before bed. Two hours before bed is optimal. Let's be real. This one is HARD! Screens are addicting, and I can easily find myself scrolling or watching a movie right up until bedtime. But since cutting back on screens before bed, my body winds down more easily, I fall asleep faster, and my brain isn't still going 100 miles an hour when I turn off my light. Reading is one of my favorite things to do before I go to bed (in a REAL book, not on a screen). It’s relaxing, keeps me away from screens, and helps me unwind.
3. Make your bedroom as dark as possible. You can use blackout curtains or hang blankets over the windows, use a sleep mask or anything else that will help block out the light. Having it completely dark has helped me sleep so much better! I use this sleep mask to block out any ambient light from the moon, cars or neighborhood lights.

4. Diffuse essential oils. Ok, this one isn’t exactly free, but I know many of you already have a diffuser and essential oils, so it’s sort of free. Here are a few of my favorite sleepy time blends:
- 1 drop of Peace and Calming 2 drops orange
I have found all of these things have helped me get more restful sleep and I wake feeling refreshed. Try out some of these and see if they make a difference for you!
