Wellness is an important part of my journey. As a young widow, I was determined to be healthy for my kids, so they wouldn’t lose another parent. But I would go to extremes. I pushed myself too hard, and eventually my body crashed. It has taken me a long time to have a healthy view of wellness and to see it as an act of worship.
The Bible says, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” I Corinthians 6:19-20
God gave us our bodies. They are His temple, and He wants us to take care of them. That is an act of worship! This can be easier said than done sometimes, as we get busy with life, stressed about various things, have little to no energy or are overwhelmed by the endless fad diets and exercise programs out there. Or we just don’t want to change our habits.
When I talk about wellness, I’m not talking about getting skinny or doing hours of cardio. I’m talking about feeling good, having energy, sleeping well, moving each day, and fueling our bodies with good nutrition. As a young widow struggling with life, I just wanted to feel good, but it seemed like no matter what I did, my body felt more and more depleted.
If you follow me on social media have seen my posts about the positive health changes I have been experiencing since January of 2023. I have an autoimmune disease, which causes inflammation and gut challenges, and also puts me at a higher risk for disease. Prior to 2023 I had started making some good changes that started me on the right path. But these changes weren’t quite enough. My energy level still struggled, my sleep was inconsistent, I got sick easily, and my gut was still out of whack. Autoimmune disease certainly contributed to this, but so did grief, overwhelm, unreasonable expectations, and the focus on being thin, instead of healthy.
At the end of 2022, God led me to a program called The 11 Day Jumpstart that has made a profound impact on my health, and it has become a lifestyle for me. Here’s some of the positive changes I have experienced:
- Much improved energy
- Inflammation way down (labs to prove it)
- Better sleep
- My gut health is so much better
- My hormones are more balanced
- My stamina has increased
- No more bloating
Each of these things on their own was wonderful, but I am experiencing ALL of them!!! My inflammation started going down quickly, so my body was able to function much better. My sleep improved, and I had so much energy! Many people who do the 11 Day Jumpstart lose 7-15 pounds in just 11 days!!!
Let me be clear. This is not a fad diet. It’s a doable way of life that fuels your body with good nutrition.
It’s been a pretty amazing experience for me, and I don’t intend to stop anytime soon. This has become a lifestyle for me! If you would like more information, click on the link below and drop me an email or send me a message on facebook or instagram (links below).
God designed our bodies to function well, and when we give them what they need, they start to heal! Let’s glorify God by using the tools He has given us to prioritize our wellness!
