Things that Support My Health
It wasn’t a single breakthrough.
It wasn’t one perfect decision.
It was consistent small choices.
After walking through my husband’s illness — and later navigating my own health challenges — I used to think health required intensity. A strict plan. A complete overhaul. A level of discipline that felt exhausting before it even began.
But over time, I’ve learned that healing is usually quieter than that.
It’s built in rhythms.
Small, faithful, daily rhythms.
1. Anti-Inflammatory, Whole Foods

I focus on simple, whole foods as often as I can.
Balanced meals.
Plenty of protein.
Foods that support steady blood sugar instead of spiking it.
Nothing extreme. Nothing trendy.
Just nourishment that helps my body feel stable instead of inflamed. I’ve learned that when my blood sugar is balanced and I’m fueled well, everything feels more manageable — my energy, my mood, even my patience.
It’s not about perfection.
It’s about consistency.
2. Supplements as ToolsI also use supportive tools.
I still start my mornings with NingXia Red as part of my daily routine. I also use essential oils and a few other foundational supplements as well (Vitamin C, Vitamin B, Vitamin D K2).
But I see them for what they are: tools.
Not cures.
Not guarantees.
Not magic fixes.
They support what I’m already doing through nourishment and lifestyle. They are part of a bigger picture, not the entire picture.
This support has been instrumental in helping me achieve wellness. I feel better at 50 than I did at 30 or 40.
3. Hydration
Hydration sounds simple — almost too simple — but it’s one of the most overlooked rhythms.

When I’m dehydrated, I feel it everywhere: energy dips, headaches, irritability, brain fog.
Drinking enough water throughout the day supports detox pathways, digestion, circulation, and overall clarity.
It’s not glamorous.
But it matters.
4. Rest as Recovery
Rest is different from sleep.
Sleep happens at night.
Rest can happen anytime.
Rest is what I choose when my body signals it needs recovery.
Sometimes that’s a short nap.
Sometimes it’s sitting down instead of pushing through.
Sometimes it’s canceling something I technically could attend but know will deplete me.
Rest lowers inflammation.
Rest regulates stress hormones.
Rest allows healing to happen beneath the surface.
I used to believe pushing through was strength.
Now I see that wisdom often looks like stopping.
5. Listening to My Body
This may be the most important rhythm I’ve developed.
I listen.
If I feel a flare coming on, I don’t power through it.
If I feel run down, I adjust.
If something feels off, I pause and evaluate.
I pivot when necessary.
There was a time when I ignored my body’s signals because I didn’t want to slow down. But ignoring warning signs only made recovery longer and harder.
Listening isn’t weakness.
It’s stewardship.
It’s partnering with the body God designed instead of fighting against it.
Health is not control.
It’s stewardship.
It’s showing up each day with small, intentional choices — nourishing, hydrating, resting, supporting, adjusting — and trusting God with what remains outside my reach.
It took me time to develop these rhythms and realize that having gentle rhythms is much more sustainable than big goals. I still overdo it at times and have to pull back and evaluate where I got off track.
These rhythms have been so nourishing for my body and soul.
Healing didn’t come all at once.
It came through simple rhythms.
And it still does. 💛
If you are rebuilding, healing, grieving, or simply trying to live with more intention, you don’t need a dramatic reset.
You need one small, faithful step.
And then another.
Simple rhythms won’t change your life in a day.
But over time?
They change everything. 💛
If you’ve been feeling exhausted, foggy, or like your energy is constantly crashing, you’re not alone. Many women are running on caffeine, sugar, and sheer determination just to get through the day.
Because this topic comes up so often, I’m hosting a simple online class called Find Your Spark. It's on Thursday, March 19th at 6:30 pm EST on Zoom.
We’ll talk about small changes that can dramatically impact your daily energy, cravings, focus, and overall wellness. I’ll also be sharing one of my favorite daily habits that has been part of my own health routine for years.
If you’re curious about supporting your body more intentionally, I’d love to have you join us.
